Employment Pass Rejected, please help

Post by hopefulgirl » Thu, 09 Sep 2010 8:28 pm

hi, i got a job offer last august and the company who sponsored me processed my work permit. I just got the result and it was rejected. My heart was really crushed. I was offered a job role as a Business development Executive. My salary would be around $1800-1999.00. I graduated from a reputable school and has 3 years of experience. I do not know the reason and so does my employer. They said they normally file for an appeal for rejected results. I was told by a friend who is now working there that S pass should have been applied since the salary is not sufficient for the EP qualification. I just need some insights on my situation. Thanks!

You may have one of two possible problems. The first (bolded), you need to check with the HR exec and ensure that when the application was filed, the box asking "if you are not approved for an EP, will you consider an "S" Pass". If that box wasn't ticked, and you were found to be ineligible for an EP, it would result in a rejection, pure and simple.

However, if it WAS checked, the the probability is that MOM feels that there are sufficient numbers of locals with similar qualifications and experience to the that job, so therefore, you would be rejected and the employer would need to hire locally for the position.

If you do not have anything additional to add to the mix that is relevant to the position, then an appeal isn't going to do much at all.

I'm sure you have seen and heard and read all the bad press for EP & PR's at the moment.

When salary is declared in the EP application it has to be fixed and can't be declared as between 1800-1999.0 as MOM asks for the basic fixed salary and not the variable component

The next main factor that I feel would have caused your EP rejection is that for a person with 3 years of experience in Business development 1900 is surely a low salary.

Can you try using the Employment Pass Eligibility Tool and check the result?
