Living Near Changi Business Park
Living Near Changi Business Park
Hi All,
I am potentially going to be offered a position which is based in Changi business park. I will be relocating my family from abroad (wife and toddler) and was wondering where would be the 'best' place to live near (i.e less than 30 mins) the business park, but at the same time not more than 30 mins from the city. Looking for a 2-3 bed apartment, and somewhere child friendly. I've done some research and I've seen that $3-$3.5K is what I'd be looking at in terms of rent. Could I get something decent?
Apologies if this has been covered already, and if it has please point me in the right direction.
Any feedback most welcome.
Thanks!

Singapore is a lot smaller than you think, the "City" is less than 30 minutes away from Changi business park. I know quite a few people who work there with live in the Siglap area. One of the problems with working at CBP is if you are going to use public transport to get to work and back it can be a bit of a pain.
Simei is at walking distance(15 mins) from CBP and within 30 mins(MRT) from CBD. There are several condos in Simei as well that you could get in your budget.
But the worst part about CBP, where I am working now, is about public transport connectivity. Even though you stay in Simei or Tampines thats like 3-5 kms. You need aleast 1 bus and/ or 2 trains to get here and it actually takes 45 mins or more!
I really got fed up and bought a motorcycle. Life has been much more pleasant since then.

Check with your "new Co" and ask if they run shuttle buses to the train station. My husband's co does run shuttle buses and that works well as its still a long hot walk to the station. If they say they do run a shuttle then anywhere on the Green Line will be easy to get or they might run a few buses to a few stations on the island.
We had thought of moving but since the shuttle buses work we just staying put.
Good Luck

I live in the Savannah condopark in Simei and work in the Changi Business District.
The condo is ideal for families and you will easily get something within your budget.
There is a shuttle bus that runs to the Simei MTT/Mall as well.
Taxi to CDB is around 7 - 10 dollars.

Thanks all for your feedback, it's much appreciated!
I'll most likely be using public transport, and I see that the office is near Expo station, so I guess if I get somewhere on the same line, then I should be ok to get to work within 30 mins. Looks like Simei is on the same line but a differnt branch? Is it possible to get there without changing train?
That said, Bedok seems a decent area, so could be a good option and only a couple of stops away.
Thoughts?

Not entirely true, Bedok, Kembangan etc are on the same line as Expo, just have to make sure you get on the right trainChrisCowps wrote:The only place on the same line as Expo is Changi Airport and Taneh Merah.

They stopped running direct trains to Changi Airport quite a few years ago, now it's shuttle service only so you always have to change trains (cross-platform) at Tanah Merah. And 10-minute waits aren't too unusual...Saint wrote:Not entirely true, Bedok, Kembangan etc are on the same line as Expo, just have to make sure you get on the right train

There are a few condos around Tanah Merah MRT. Casa Merah is a new development and quite nice.
