Need a quick run through on accommodations

Post by zippycar » Sun, 05 Sep 2010 9:20 am

Hello,

I have been offered a 2 year contract to work in Singapore. The company does not have any housing accommodations for workers (which is surprising).

What's a good type of accommodation and area to live? I will be working in the Outram area.

I don't wish to commute too far but I also a budget. What are some tips and advice? What is the difference between apartments, condos, and HDB units?

Thanks for the help

I would recommend doing a 'search property' at the top of the page.

Type in your budget and area you wish to stay in.

Easy peasy.

hmm...I wonder if my expectations are too high.

I type in my budget and the districts and I get zero results. What can I expect for a S$1800/month?

I'd want a place for myself. I'm not a huge fan of renting a room and sharing all the common spaces (did that in university and didn't like it).

any suggestions? pro/cons for the outlying districts?

Your probably looking at $2200 min in the area you wanna be in.

Look at the public transport further a field. Bus and train.

1800/mo will only get you an HDB Flat.
