A credit card 'is' personal credit i.e. you arrange the facility and if you spend against it, you repay it back over a period of time.

The only other thing I can think you are referring to is an overdraft? I have this facility at SC and but its free.

To save all the hassle and confusion why don't you simply read the small print on your agreement and account information, as different accounts / cards have different terms & conditions. Or more simpler still, phone SC to ask. I bank with them and find them exceptionally helpful.

Woa bit scary how they give out credit cards etc. to people who have no idea what its all about.

Go back to the bank and ask them to explain in detail, in fact I would write a note to them ( in proper English ) saying no one has explained it and you are a bit confused. That way when you end up in a right pickle you can blame the bank for not being upfront with you.

Both have their pros and cons. Credit card will charge a much higher interest but you can pay it all off any time without a penalty, Personal Loan charges a lower rate of interest (still high though) but you are normally tied in for a set period, and if you try and pay it off you have to pay a penalty. There is also an Overdraft facility which I believe is also known as personal credit here, the bank allows you to go into to an agreed debit on your account any time but at a fixed rate of interest. Don't forget there are also debit cards.

Each bank have their own sets of terms and conditions, I would steer well clear of getting any kind or credit/loans until you have a better understanding of what you are getting into. Try and live life without credit apart from a house loan.

There are 26 letter in the alphabet. Try using ALL of them when writing. This is an "English" forum and not a phone sms or sgforum.com. See the example above "plz". "Please" doesn't even have a "z" in it! We tend to use English here and not singlish or texting language.

I was on the SCB Website looking for some other information and came across the product details. You can find them here: http://www.standardchartered.com.sg/per ... credit/en/
