How do I cancel my IPA?

Post by RedLine » Thu, 02 Sep 2010 3:55 pm

I never joined Company A but I still have an IPA with them (the pass hasn't been collected yet). But I'm going to join Company B and they cannot apply me a new IPA since I have an existing IPA.

Would it be easy for Company A to cancel my IPA? Can it be done online within a day?

I really need my IPA to get withdrawn immediately and is there anything I can do in case Company A won't be able to cancel my IPA right away? I can't get through MOM at all to inquire about this issue. Please help.

Did you sign any contract with Company A to apply EP for you? Why are you now changing to Company B? Did you approach Company A to cancel the IPA for you?

Company A can cancel your IPA online if they wish to do so.

They will make good Singaporeans! They will cause all kinds of disruptions & quit for $50 more salary or 5 minutes closer to a different job. Greed jumps right up into their face.

I often get to have a hearty laugh at the stupidity of some people. It's all over the news for months how hard it is to get work passes, so they get one and immediately figure they are home free, not realizing that once the 1st company cancels the IPA, it's a brand new ballgame with company B as there is no guarantee that once the first IPA is canceled that the second one will be approved as it's a two part process (the employer ALSO has to be vetted and may or may not be successful). Then the employee it SOL and if the gahmen are lucky, they will have gotten rid of another EP holder!

No it's not because of a bigger salary. It's just that there was an emergency that I needed to attend to and during that time frame, they already found a new employee to fill in my position. They needed one immediately.

It's just that the employer hasn't emailed yet regarding the cancellation and I don't want to give them the hard time that's why I'm asking if it's easy to cancel the IPA. Or in case they won't be able to respond immediately, if I could cancel it myself.

By right cancellation has to be done by the employer who has applied for the EP and not the employee.

Contact your employer in person or through phone to request him to cancel the EP Approval online/manual.

But have a thought in your mind that there is no guarantee that your EP application that will be submitted by your second employer will be successful.

Even if there were an answer on a three-year-old thread, the situation has changed a lot since then, so it would probably be irrelevant.
