PR application whilst switching jobs

Post by apollo_69 » Tue, 31 Aug 2010 11:50 am

Hi, I just wanted some advice on whether switching jobs is a good idea whilst PR submission is still in progress?

I've been on a P1 nearly a year, but thinking about moving jobs and don't know if I can wait until the PR application goes through, as they don't say how long it takes....would moving jobs during submission harm the chances of getting a PR approved? assuming I am moving to similar salary / position at another MNC....any advice appreciated!

Stay on your current job while applying PR will be best. It will take about One to 2 yrs to know about your application

You have to notify ICA if anything on your PR application changes. Ergo, if you change jobs, you need to notify them. Whether it will cause the application to move to the back of the queue or not, I couldn't say. I doubt it seriously, unless your changes are detrimental, that is.

Hi, in addition to the above info would you please tell me what happens if my EP expires (and in case I have not found a new job, i.e., need to leave Singapore) while my PR application is under processing? Will the application remain active or it will be cancelled automatically once the EP expires? Thanks for your help.

If your EP expires, it would be because you job has ceased. If your job as ceased, you need to notify ICA anyway at that time. When that happens, PR application will become null and void and you will have to reapply once you have again found suitable employment. If you try to fool them, when they check with MOM and find a different sponsor, you will forever put yourself in the crapper with ICA.
