Engineering jobs?

Post by kl055 » Sat, 28 Aug 2010 6:27 am

I am in a Canadian university (engineering) and I don't know what to major in. But I would like to know which engineering sectors have the best job market outlook in Singapore for foreigners.

I poked around a bit on this site but all I could find were job postings for business and some IT, but nothing on engineering.

I heard Singapore has biomedical firms. Maybe biomedical engineering would be a good option for me?

I vacationed once in Singapore and I actually cried when I had to leave

I only speak english, will this be a problem for most companies?

I only speak English as well. Hasn't hurt me none.

Engineering? Go into what ever field you are interested in. If you just go for the "money" you may not rise to the top as you will be in something you possibly not really interested in. Therefore, it's debatable whether you will be able to give the extra on a day in, day out, basis to really excel and may grow to hate your profession as well. You will soon burn out and find you will have to start over again anyway. My suggestion? Go with your heart and not your purse. If you go with your heart, your purse will get filled anyway as you will excel and rise faster through the rank & file. Also you will feel good inside as well.

My 2¢ worth. (I went the family desires route and then quit after 10 years and followed my heart for the next 20!)

the most important thing to me is that i can live iin singapore. i am interested in engineering in general so any specialty would be good for me. from the university courses i have taken, i don't have a preference for a specific field. i know i will be happy in engineering.
