Hi,
I have a few questions and would like to seek help and advise from you..
I have a vietnam gf whom was caught working in singapore on tourist visa. She was repatriated back in two days later.
We have known each other about a year now and I have been visiting her in vietnam almost every month.
I would like her to visit my parent in Singapore (on tourist visa) and we are planning to get married soon. I have approached ICA to check whether she is banned from entering Singapore. ICA replied they are not able to disclose such information but however, instructed me to write an "appeal letter" and be a "local sponsor" to apply for her entry to singapore.
Few questions which I hope anyone could help me with some advises:
1) How is the success rate like if I make an appeal and be a local sponsor as instructed by the ICA? Anyone has the similiar case as mine?
2)If we plan to marry in vietnam, will the vietnam marriage certificate able to help in the application?
For your kind information, I am Singapore citizen. Working in the IT firm with a monthly salary of SGD 3,000.
Your kind help and advises would be deeply appreciated....! Thanks

Depends on how seriously ICA views this offense. You can try for an appeal but not sure if you will be able to get it successful
2)If we plan to marry in vietnam, will the vietnam marriage certificate able to help in the application?
In normal scenario, ROM in SG would carry more value than marriage done abroad. Surely marriage in SG will be more + than marriage in Vietnam. But I doubt if that alone will be strong enough to get the appeal through.

Appeal what?
Appeal for an SVP first and then for a LTSVP after marriage?

Personally, it's my feeling that she will not be even given a hearing. Knowing how hard they are on marriage to WP holders without permission, and in this case it a deliberate breaking of the law (working without a proper work permit) I reckon she will be no even allowed into the country.
But, as that is only my POV, I would recommend applying for a SVP for her as her sponsor. Appeal? She would have to be rejected before she can appeal. Has she received any letters or notifications or judgments stating she is no longer welcome in Singapore after her deportation? If not, then you cannot appeal anything as you don't have anything to reference.
Apply for the SVP, but don't get you hope too high. If it works, then you've got room for celebration. But that's only the first hurdle. The second would be the ROM. As she's never been on a WP (or has she?) she really doesn't need permission to marry from MOM. Again, if you marry in VN, this will not help you case as it may well be looked upon as a marriage of convenience, especially in light of the deportation issue.

Also be true when completing the declaration section when applying for SVP and later for LTSVP. Honesty will help at times.

Thank you all for your kind advises.. deeply appreciated.
In fact, the appeal letter (plus other forms) is one of the ICA requirements for submitting the application in the SVP. ICA required me to explain the reasons for her entry in singapore being her local sponsor. The appeal letter also need to state the date/place where and why she was caught working in spore holding SVP....

Good question. Dealbreaker if you ask me.
It's common sense - if you try to come in before I go out, I can't go out. And you can't come in! Lose-lose!

My GF was caught working as a part-time cashier helping in her friend's restaurant...
I am not sure whether I am good in writing letters especially appeal letter being required by ICA. I heard there are immigration services companies (agent) whom charges for a fee in seeking consultation and assistances in this field. Really not sure whether it is worth paying for their services.. Example like hiring an agent to assist me to pen the appeal letter.
Thanks to the kind souls here whom have given me the above valuable inputs and blessings..... thanks.

IMHO, you are wasting your money. If you want to get an agent , might as well get a lawyer. At the end of the day, it does not carry any weight at all . You are the sponsor, why don't you go and see ICA officer or supervisors and go from there. Sponsor for visit maybe but to get married in SG after being caught, I do not want to place any bets on it
