Expressing My Appreciation To "Mad Scientist"!

Post by Frisco » Sat, 14 Aug 2010 10:14 pm

I just wanted to take the time to express my appreciation to "Mad Scientist".

In my opinion, the level of help that MS extended to me and my family was far beyond our expectations.

His dedication, diversity of knowledge and sensitivity to the needs of forum members, and his ability to apply those attributes to the betterment of this community merit more than a mention. He deserves a standing ovation.

MS is a vital enabler and animator of this forum. His contribution is sizable, but not always measurable. His work here doesn’t make headlines, but does make a difference.

What particularly impressed me about the degree of dedication rendered by MS was that there were absolutely no financial rewards involved. It appears that it was simply MS's extraordinary commitment to superiority in volunteer work and helping others that motivated him to go the extra mile.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank all other volunteers here. This is a very helpful forum and run very professionally with great Administrators and Moderators. They all spent considerable amount of their time here but are not nearly appreciated enough.

Same sentiments and appreciation here.
As a reader, the amount of information Mad Scientist (and others) render is invaluable, and my thanks go out to all of you.

Oops I forgot to add that the info is relevant as I too will soon have a kid turning 13 late this year, and I'll be on the bewilded journey/path to the seeking of his NS deferment etc, etc..... With a view to his re-nounciation of citizenship too.

yup. I think the forum should be renamed from strictly speaking to ask MS since 90% are NS questions

Count me in! Both him and SMS are just AWESOME!!! It's not just NS questions that they're helping out. I've learned so much about NS and the pain people went through with dual citizenships.... which doesn't necessary apply to SG only.

Frisco... Hear ! Hear! I 'd been thinking along those lines. MS is a genuine scientist whose own greatness enables him to appreciate the quality in others and he expresses them so explicitly. I'm saying this even though he has an axe to grind with me, but the light will dawn, perhaps.
Similarly, hats off to SMS who's a genie in this forum. I hope he never dumbs down - he used to go for punchlines only, ( with me) but he's no longer a rough diamond but a grand carat. I had had a big tussle with SMS but I wouldn't say he's anything but a fair-minded good guy with a great sense of fun. Most of all, SMS is devoted like a Calvanist to his work and to this forum. Will he write his memoir about his work with the SG Expat Forum?
There're others, of course, as I'd said before, who have over the years before I knew of this forum, kept it sparkling with wit and perceptiveness. We have not broach some of the more controversial topics but there're plenty that's meaningful for many.

Of course, there're many others, the regular contributors like Plavt, Nagakato, Been there ( a meteor?) SE, ksl... who else... all those reporters and anyone, really, who joined in, including the whingers, the so and not so afterall etc. and the exiles...who can forget the forum bashers who started a one off post to wind everyone up - wonder if you'll ever get to know who they are - the person in the troll?

Never fall into the trap of thinking everything's perfect.
