EP rejected, Applied for LOC, advice?

Post by kiko » Sat, 14 Aug 2010 12:01 pm

Finally got a job offer after 5 months hunting, with a very reputable MNC but only 6 months contract with a possibility of an extention. This is through an agency which acts as my employer as I am a contractor, so they applied for my EP and I was rejected. They haven't been given the reason for the rejection although they assume it may be the short term contract, Singaporean being able to do the same job or the fact that I am only part qualified.
We didn't apply for a LOC to start with because they have a poor history of approval and have most of their applications rejected.
However, potential employer doesn't have the time to wait for me to go through the appeal process as they are in desperate need of someone to start asap so we decided to go for LOC (submitted by the agency) and now I'm anxious I may get rejected again.

It is one in a million job opportunity and I feal it's slipping through my fingers.

Anyone has any experience in this area?

Unfortunately, much as been unsaid. Because of this, your post makes absolutely no sense.

Are you here on a Dependent's Pass? Or, are you on a LTVP? If you are on a LTVP, there isn't too much that can be done. If you are on a Dependent's Pass, then getting a LoC from the employer shouldn't be a problem. However, if you are trying to get an LoC from a Staffing Company as a temp staff, you may have some problems (although it shouldn't be a problem). However, with the current state of affairs at the MOM, there are lot's of changes to the criteria that we are not aware of as of yet.

So, are you on a DP or LTVP? Only a DP holder can get a LoC.

I am on DP. But would be on the agency payroll and contracted to the MNC company for 6 months. It is contract job through an agency so they applied for the LOC.

The problem, more than likely, is with the agency. They've probably tried something dodgy in the past and therefore MOM is being hard on them. If the client company were to apply for your LoC and you were being paid directly by them, you would probably not have any problems.

I know ,it would probably be almost certain I would get the LOC if the company applied but since is a contract the agency says it has to be them not the company.
Very frustrating
Thanks for the reply though
