Nosey ang moh lady

Post by ex-pat » Tue, 10 Aug 2010 9:32 pm

I dont know if this is the right place to post this message. Admin please kindly move this to the right place if you think this is not the appropriate place. Thank you.

This is the first time that i encountered a nosey ang moh. Been living in our estate for half a year now, and always enjoyed my morning, afternoon and night walk with my dog. Until this afternoon, the walk that is suppose to be enjoyable turned out to be a very unpleasant one.

Well, tell me if its a crime talking on the phone while walking your dog. Halfway on my walk i decided to call a family member back in my country but because the reception is a bit shaky i decided to stop and find a place to sit so i can hear the other end clearly. After about a couple of minute one ang moh lady came to me and said , you shoudnt be sitting here ...you should be walking your dog.
I was dumbfounded...then she repeat her words, thats when i stand up and said to her ..excuse me im on the phone. Then she said you shoudnt be talking on the phone you should be walking your dog.

I cant believe what i heard, so i gathered my courage and told her to get lost. I told her its none of her business if iwant to talk on the phone and not walking my dog.

And she said , you cant stay in front of my house ..LOL this new neighbour ( they just move in the house few weeks ago) thinks she owns the road in front of her house.

After watching the National Day parade celebration yesterday i realised how lucky i am to live in this beautiful country. I always enjoy my stay here ...I really hope this unfriendly ang moh lady will learn to be more tolerable with her sorrounding.

Well done champ....let me guess outside her house, in the evening, talking at the top of your voice on the phone...is this considerate of your neighbours ?
You probably should be more respectful of other peoples space.....find a quiet place that doesn't impact anyone...MANNERS101

Well, how do you know if im talking on top of my voice ..its an overseas call and just trying to be heard by the other end...and why cant the nosey lady lock herself inside her bathroom if she find me annoying. Besides im not even close to her door . I suggest she go and live in the mountains , away from the busy roads.

LOL I know just the type although I've never encountered one here. They're the same "GET OFF MY LAWN" types like depicted in Gran Torino. There's one who lives on the street where I grew up and my parents still live. We call him Herman zee German. He's evil, but he knows what he likes and will tolerate and we accommodate him.

She has a lot of nerve getting all uppity in a foreign country with foreign customs though. Good for you for setting her straight. If she doesn't like it she can put up a 'privacy' hedge or fence or wall or something like Herman did.

She did put a "privacy hedge over her fence" not sure though if her landlord allow her to do that LOL.
And shes so private that even her rubbish bin ( both the recycling and the green top bin) was kept inside her gate... it should be kept by the road for the garbage guys to collect.

And why don't you think about your neighbours (and the person on the other end) and have a call in a place where you don't annoy everyone - it works both ways

Nope - this is being considerate to other pavement users including yourself who don't have to trip over garbage bins left in the middle of the pavement on their daily constitutional.

If you ask me thats a good thing, have you tried pushing a pram down a pavement, when all the f-ing wheely bins are left out all day. I have to bounce up and down the pavements or end up walking on the road.

So are you saying you were on an overseas call and had to talk very loud to be heard?
