scrapbooking

Post by daytripper65 » Mon, 02 Aug 2010 5:14 pm

Hi,

After scanning the archives I visited spotlight to stock up on scrapbooking supplies- an endeavor that's been on my list of things of things to do for years now. I definately want to have a few of our Singapore years. However, I spent a whopping $200 and after browsing for ideas on the internet, don't seem to have anything of the quality to make a nice book. I'm bummed.

Is anybody interested in sharing scrapbooking ideas either via e-mail or over a coffee? Have any cost friendly creative ideas other than these expensive little $pecialty items in tiny packages? I'd also like to know how long digital photos last and if there is anything available to preserve them?

Thanks!

DayTripper65- I am not entirely sure what scarpbooking is. If it involves "tole" (which is placing parts of paper on thers to make an almost 3 dimensional image) then a place on the downstairs of United Square sells lots of glues, papers etc. I hope this helps....kind regards.

Getting more and more popular! You can laminate your digital pics for longer lasting.

I just about laminate everything these days, to help preserve.

I have many old things, like my National Health Service card when i was born back in 1950 and my fathers army paybook. I think its quite important to freez time, and pass it on to generations.

Sadly i only have 2 pictures of my mum and 1 of my father, the my albums having been stolen and dumped. Special moments are precious!

daytripper65 - check out the PaperMarket stores (Plaza Singapura, Raffles City & Wheelock - tho Wheelock is the smallest)... if you spend a certain amount of money you become a member which entitles you to discount - plus they throw in coupons and certain months they have up to %30 off certain things (like paper, or materials...etc). i'm not a scrapbooker by any stretch of the imagination but purchased a lot of material for a class project and the savings were substantial.

I don't know about that, because when me and friends started to make a scarpbook, we just buy colorful papers and look for the things that we can use in our houses, like buttons, patches, cloths, glitters, etc..

Thanks for all your replies. I now have a good amount of materials, including magazine cutouts and such. Now all I need are ideas, which I'm finding on the internet. Thanks!
