Dual (US/SG) Citizenship

Post by joyxoxo » Sat, 24 Jul 2010 2:06 am

I'm 21 now, born in the US to Singaporean parents. I will have to decide which citizenship I want to take up by May 2011. I have stayed here the past 19 years and will be entering a US based University here in Singapore.

If I choose to give up my Singaporean Citizenship, does that mean I can't be a Singaporean PR and I would need a Visa/Student pass to be able to continue studying in Singapore?

Any pros & cons when taking up US citizenship or has anyone gone through the same situation? Any suggestions? Thanks!

You said you were already a US citizen. Which is it? You are planning to apply for US citizenship or you're are planning on renouncing one or the other? Both Passports have their advantages and disadvantages. Yes, it's possible to work in Singapore once you have renounced, but it's highly unlikely that they will give you PR in the future.
