Computer crashing

Post by ex-pat » Fri, 23 Jul 2010 10:44 am

IM using windows vista as a OS, lately my computer starts behaving strangely. I tried to run de-frag and transfer most of my important files in external drive. Deleted unnecessary programs...

After a while it seems as if working normaly then starts crashing suddenly, its irritating esp when im doing things halfway and havent save my work.

WHAT IS WRONG with it .My computer has free 86.1 GB free space.

well, there's your problem!

but seriously, it could be any number of things:

* your os configuration is messed up already (fix by resetting the software installation using your restore disks)
* some of your hardware could be malfunctioning (fix by replacing faulty hardware)
* you got some malware/virus infection (fix by installing a malware/virus remover and running it)

you can try to describe the exact circumstances as best as you can whenever a crash happens or just have someone take a look at your computer.

50 bux says you are infected with spyware/malware/adware. Download and run these three programs:

Windows Defender: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en (This will permanently install and monitor your PC in real time, so if you have other AV, you will want to uninstall or disable when done)

Adaware: http://www.lavasoft.com/single/trialpay.php (These guys have been going down hill in my opinion but still might find some stuff)

Spybot Search and Destroy: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html (quite a comprehensive program that gets rid of some hard to get rid of infections)

If this doesn't work, there are other tools to determine your infection... harder to work with.

If it is not virus, chances are your computer is overheating, which is why it takes a while to get hang..either your CPU or Power supply fan is not working.
High chance the power supply unit itself that is going to conk off.

What is the crashing?
- Everything frozen?
- Blue screen?

What is "starts crashing"?
- the system repeatedly crashes before and after subsequent reboots?
- the system is fine, but applications keep crashing?
