Working In Singapore, Employment pass question

Post by ciscodreamer » Tue, 20 Jul 2010 8:09 pm

Hi Guys,

I am a Filipino computer network consultant with 8 years of experience and currently working for a MNC here in Kuala Lumpur as an IT project manager. I am waiting for a formal offer for another bank in Singapore. The salary is around 5.5K SGD.

My situation is I didn't finish my bachelors degree in computer studies but I took a course in informatics. Through hard work and God's grace, I managed to learn and get a very good job experience. I have several IT management and technical certifications and worked in KL for 2.5 years now. I tried the self assessment tool in the MOM website and it specified that I will likely to qualify for an EP but I am quite worried if I will not be given the EP when I apply. Please give me your advice, whether you think ill likely pass the EP qualifications or not. Thanks in advance.

IT industry here is different kettle of fish altogether. Having a degree will make your chances of getting the pass higher. Nonetheless your would-be employer needs to prove to MOM that your skillset is very much in demand in his company.
Hence there are two part. Your would be employer can employ you but it is MOM that will decide to issue the pass or not
