Childcare options

Post by UnexpectedAdventurer » Tue, 20 Jul 2010 5:58 pm

Hi,
I'm hoping some long-termers can give me a bit of advice.
We are settling into the East Coast area and have no idea where to start when it comes to getting some help with our eight month old daughter. (It doesn't help that SingTel tells us they can't connect our place to the internet for two months).
We don't want a full-time maid or helper. We're looking for a childcare centre that offers what is called occasional care in Australia or a babysitting service. My husband needs some relief from his stay-at-home dad duties and for sanity's sake I think we need a night off once in a while.
Any tips?

Hi...I'm in a similar situation in June 2011. I will be moving with my husband and 1 yr old by then. I need a daycare center that she can go into. What have you found in the last year? Also, I'm assuming that it's better to look for a daycare first and then figure out where to live? Any tips you can provide would be great! This is all too overwhelming and I don't know where to start.
