AMK HUB Car Park Issue

Post by edy666 » Sun, 18 Jul 2010 2:54 am

I had doubts in the management in handling car park issue. I was at the mall car park about 1650hr. When I saw a vehicle move out of the parking lot, I parked my car in that parking lot. My families walk toward the car park exit to the lift lobby for a movie @ 1715hr. After about 2 hr (about 1930hr) movie, I went to my car to get my wife mobile phone. I noticed my car was clamped. The notice stated 1837hr so I went forward to look for help. One of the building officers attended to me told me I was parking in an illegal car park lot. I told him there is no sign at the wall facing the flow of traffic or label on the floor. However I told him there is black mark of parking lot. He pointed at the sign that was installed against the traffic flow. We had some arguments on this issue & I knew there would be a never ending arguments. I decided to have my dinner with my family. I came back about 1 hr later (about 2035hr) waiting for police officers. Meanwhile I took some photos on the vehicles which were illegal parking. After about 45 min (about 2120hr) of reporting to the police officers, the building officer said he cannot release the clamp as this is company policy. I could understand so I called the press for help as this car park lot to anyone would park if it is not clearly marked. While waiting for the press to come, I get my family to get a cab back. After seeing my family get into the cab, I went to my car to get my newspaper for another press number for help. I saw the two building officers guarding my car, afraid I would cut the clamp. The press officers came at about 2325hr, I still saw one of the building officers stood at a distance watching. After 30min (about 2355hr) of reporting the whole incident, I called the building office to release the clamp. When the three building officers came, they told me I could have two choices, either I paid $150 to release the clamp or gave them my full particular for LTA. I asked one of the officers if the car came out of the lot would you paked. His answer was NO. So I told him I paid the fine & informed him there is a car park over the other side was illegal parking. He agreed to clamp that car & gave me a receipt. So one of them went to get the receipt, the other prepared the wheel clamp & the lady officer stayed with me. After I paid the fine, they went off without wheel-clamp that car that I took a photo earlier (about 2100hr). One of the building officers told me that don't make their life difficult. I was very sad & wanted to show them the photo timing I took, they just don’t bother & walked away. I was thinking they had time guarding my car & don't have time for wheel-clamp another illegal parking vehicles. I was so disappointed & went home.

So what was your complaint? You should have taken the MRT or Bus as AMK Hub has both right there. The Bus Terminal is in the building and the MRT across the street, accessable by tunnel. That way you would not have been inconvenienced at all.

Send in an appeal to the LTA with your complaint, that no signs on approaching the car park, was displayed. You should not just accept it! There will be strict parking regulations on the display of signs for no parking. LTA is pretty fair if you are in the right!

I was also let off from paying a fine in the bus lane, because I was forced into the lane by the bus behind me, traffic wouldn't let me in the lane, so it was better not to delay the bus. So I stopped at the filter to the bus lane indicating my intention but who gives a toss in Singapore. Security are just being arse holes, they like the wee bit of power they have and get a few kicks out of it.

No point quarreling with these people as they already "lose face" when you confront them. It will be a losing battle arguing with them
Documented all comms and what has taken place, go and approach LTA or its higher authority and demand justice. Sometimes they are abit over zealous in carrying out their duties.

It's unfortunate that you feel wronged by the parking signs, but what the hell was the point of making the officers clamp that other car? Would that give you back your SGD150? Or was it solely for your own sick pleasure? Save your own 'face'? I don't get it? You just complained about how 'sad' and miserable you were during the whole ordeal and you would wish the same unto a fellow driver and his family?

Geez, man. I think you have bigger issues than a parking fine.
It's common sense - if you try to come in before I go out, I can't go out. And you can't come in! Lose-lose!

I so agree with this....I am sorry, but even as a non-driver here I feel it is SOOOOOOOOOOOO not good to point out that someone else is illegally parked. This mean spirited attitude is beyond me, and I despair. I am sorry you have your troubles but get a grip! You want one of you fellows in the poo too and you tell on them? How did you survive the playground?
Hey ho...
