Shopping:Where to buy affordable business suits and jackets?

Post by Ryan_ » Tue, 13 Jul 2010 1:06 am

Other than the shops along Orchard Rd. do you know any place in SG I can shop for men's business suit and jackets that are affordable? I'm not interested in custom suits they are also expensive. Any recommendation is very much appreciated. Thank you.

Good luck. Unless you are an Asian or an expat cut to an Asian physique, it aint gonna happen. The clothes will fit you poorly. Pants especially.

I know you're asking about SIngapore, but you really might want to consider making a trip to Bangkok to get it done. Do a whole bunch that will last you a long time.

They even courier back to Singapore your made-to-measures if you can't hang around long enough.

Just don't get in the way of the people with colourful shirts.

you could try to tailor make your clothes at the tailors in peninsula.
My husband got egyptian cotton shirts for 80 bucks.

@curiousgeorge, I was checking the pricing at C&K a pair of suit cost around 800ish and if you'll get the jacket only around 500ish. The pricing at G2000, you can buy a pair at $299 which I think affordable but if you want only the jacket it would be the same price. I was thinking I can get a pricing from low $100-199 just for the jacket.

That's sounds interesting klitz 80 buck for a shirt I will it check out. Btw, do you have the name of the tailoring shop? Thanks again.

Just would like to add an update: I went to the Peninsula shopping center near the city hall MRT or Raffles City. On the 3rd floor there are several tailoring shops.. most of them are offering custom fit business suits ranging from the prices between $350 onwards and it will depend on your choice of the material.. they have Armani, Hugo boss like materials, they have also wool which cost a little more. I am so lucky when I visited on tailoring shop at the 3rd floor on your right when you exit opposite the escalator right at the corner I forgot the name of the shop but he has several suits that he need to let go I got a good deal with him $120 for the jacket and he ask me to add $40 for the pants and end up paying $150 all in all.. he made some adjustment on the length of my hands the rest of the measurements did fit well.. after one hour I got my new suit :P I recommend the Peninsula to shop for a business suits.

That is why I asked what you considered affordable.

I get all my suits and shirts tailor made, approx $400 for a suit and $70 for a shirt.

I use Men's Tradition in Peninsula shopping centre...the guy who runs the place is called Daniel, his shop is the one with a queue when all the other tailors on the third floor are still empty ;)

In my experience here so far (Ive tried 4 different tailors) is that if you want to be able to sit in your pants and not look like you were a backup singer in an MC hammer video is to give the tailor an already tailored suit, pants or shirt for them to copy. I get all my tailoring done in OZ by an english brand and then get locals to copy it in the material I want. I have had problems with every local tailor.
