that happened to me too, left the house for 2 weeks, condensation formed on the walls, broke into mold or after lack of ventilation.

mine was confined to the ceilings and walls only though, called some contractor to get rid of it

Hi Jennys,
Just wondering how the contractor got rid of the mold?
Did they paint over it?
Upload a photo of the infected walls / ceilings please....

I would also like to know how to get rid of it?!?!
So far it's a smaller problem but it's growing and I need to stop it.
Last night was especially bad, I woke up to a green furniture and all my clothes very fluffy. :?

So what should I do now? I have used vinegar on everything, and clothes is waiting for a wash, but is that enough? What should I do?

Also, my hubby has an expensive suit that was in a plastic cover and it has mold over it. Is there a good place where I can take it to be cleaned?

Firstly you seriously need to dehumidify your house. Ventilation (by opening windows) may not be an entirely effective solution because it is heavy rainy season now.

You need to get those expensive clothes professionally cleaned and don't mix the clothes with others as it can spread. An easier and more comprehensive solution can be found in contractors specialising in mildew and mould treatment.

That's all I can think of for now.

TNX

I was looking for a dehumidifier but can't find one. All I have found here are humidifiers (?!?! who needs that here). If anyone knows where to find one, please let me know.

My take is to combat the source.

Dick around all you like with air-con and de-hy units but if the unit is inherently moldy often due to aged air-con or damp, that's your problem.

.... got that T-shirt!

They do have the large ones meant for wardrobes, which, in that case, she need to buy loads and loads for her unit.

I think the electrical dehumidifier has better capacity. You can get one from Courts for a few hundred dollars (~SGD500)

The aircon itself works as a very effective dehumidifier and any other dehumidifiers based on cooling-condensation effect work similar way. Some aircons have even this specific function to keep your place more dry.
Yes, it will cost you money.
For clothing protection, buy some vacuum bags, put some water physisorbing stuff in (i.e. the said thirsty hippos) and vacuum the air out.

That's probably true. Dampy and gloomy flat with the aircon badly in need of chemical cleaning and you are probably doomed.
