Mattress suggestions

Post by anupam8275 » Sun, 27 Jun 2010 8:00 pm

Hi! I am looking for a mattress and was sondering if anybody had suggestions on brands and where I can go to see a good range. Other than Simmons (which can be expensive), I am not aware of any other brands so just want to make sure that I can buy a decent brand and go to a shop which has a reasonable choice available.

Thanks!

I saw a few mattress stores in China Town.. try to go around don't go for brands you can shop for better quality when you actually feel the product over the price.

I'd forget IKEA for a start. Even their hardest mattress was to me like a trampoline. I slept on one (apparently their firmest (and most expensive one)) for 2 years after thinking lying on one in the store for 30 seconds could help me judge what it was like... :? Hernce, in my experience, you need to have an idea of whether you need a hard or softer mattress - know how it feels. And work from that.

Good mattresses cost $, but I think you're short-changing yourself if you really expect to find some cheap option...

Give Seahorse a shot. The springs are supposed to be excellent and give great support to the spine.

There's a branch at Tiong Bahru Plaza, on the 3rd floor I think.

I have a Simmons, and can tell you that nothing else compares. Let's face it, bed is the one place you spend more time than any other...it makes sense to invest in a good mattress! Yeah it may be $$$, but its still less than 10c an hour for a heavenly sleep.

There is a Serta shop at the top of Centrepoint, and you can check out the range in Robinsons at the same time.

The Furniture Mall at Beech Road has most of the mattress shops in one place, simmons, dunlop etc.

For info, the prices at Simmons Paragon and Simmons Furniture Mall are the same.

I have an unused, brand new Sealy Posturepaedic Director mattress for sale. It's still in its plastic wrapping :D
It's a queen size [about 200 x 150cm] and is one of the most comfortable things I have ever slept on [have got the larger size on my bed].

Drop me a PM for more details, if you're interested.

Genuine.
