Register as a dentist in Singapore

Post by sky_bluezzz » Sun, 27 Jun 2010 6:43 pm

hi all, appreciate your advise on the followings:

I have a friend, who is holding a dentistry degree from Taiwan Yang Ming University. She had been practising in Taipei for about 3 years.

1. is she qualified to register as a dentist in singapore?
2. If not, are there any other ways for her to be recognized by the dental council, for example, taking any courses here in singapore, or get an employment of a singapore registered clinic, or practice in other country for a few years before coming to singapore?

Thank you.

Try this

RECOGNITION IN SINGAPORE

* The degree (MUDr) is not listed in the Annex A (List of medical schools in the revised schedule) under the revised list of recognized foreign universities & medical schools of the Singapore Medical Council (SMC).
* Medical graduates from the Czech faculties featured in this website would have to apply to SMC to sit for a qualifying examination.
* Please refer to Singapore Medical Council (SMC) for further information :

I am afraid that Singapore does not recognize any dental degrees from Taiwan or India. In fact, they only recognize ONE Asian Dental degree and that is from the University of Hong Kong. Here is the list of all recognized degrees which will allow a foreign dentist to gain at least a "conditional" registration with the Singapore Dental Council.

And The Schedule (of eligible schools): It's a PDF file so you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open it.

THE SCHEDULE

The site was last updated on January 11, 2010 so it's pretty current, I'd say.
