MOVING TO SG WITH DIABETES

Post by pegasus121 » Sat, 26 Jun 2010 11:29 pm

Hi Folks

Shortly moving to SG and being a long term diabetes sufferer I was wondering if anyone is in a similar situation. I use insulin and the normal protective drugs for my condition. I will be employed on a local contract but should have health insurance and wondered if anyone had experiences similar to mine? If my insurance doesn’t cover long term conditions what are the cost/care implications. Thanks in advance to a very helpful forum for all who are contemplating a move to SG. I was here in the RAF but that was ions ago when Bukit Timah was a roundabout

Diabetes Dr's

Diabetes is pretty huge in Sg (9-10% of population) so Diabetes centres and Drs are fairly easy to come by.

All the big hospitals (NUH, SGH, TTSH, CGH, Alexandra hospital, Jurong General) will have diabetes centres which, bring government run should be pretty reasonable in cost.

Alternatively if you were looking for a purely private Dr you could try http://www.novenamedicalcenter.com/Our- ... Cheow.html He's an endocrinologist (Diabetes Dr). Or Mt Elizabeth or Gleneagles will have a few

Any more questions, feel free to drop me a PM...

Sam

Hi Pegasus121 - I am in a similar situation to you - moving out in July - and wondered what your experiences have been since you moved and whether you have any advice!
Thanks

You can try http://www.health-tourism.com/singapore_hospitals/, this site has a huge list of hospitals and medical centers in Singapore.
