just saw an item on this on the locals's complaint site. saw a pic of a guy making the most out of the situation (wink-wink, nudge-nudge).

I haven't seen flooding here that bad since around 1984! Used to be a lot of that before they started widening the canals. About the last place that it happens regularly is in Chinatown.

You should see our carpark!! B3 under 3 feet of water all those low slung super car owners will be reading the small print on the insurance policy! Just been downstairs and saw a Ferrari and maser being pulled out of the water. Lucky for us we could not come home because of the grid lock.
Call me old fashion, but if you stick a huge dam in an estuary (ie marina barrage) then would not the end result be the slowing down of the water feeding that basin? Mess with nature and she bites back...

What was the cause I wonder? The rain in Sengkang this morning was heavy and consistent. Perhaps the rate of rainfall at Orchid this morning was outside the statistical expectations set by the civil engineers that designed the drainage.

The cloud cover at 9 a.m. in the Jurong East/Bukit Bakot/Clementi "Bermuda Triangle" was so low and black it looked like it did at 9 p.m. last night! And when the bottom broke it was a deluge. I understand that the morning "shower" dumped 60% of the average June rainfall in an hour or so.
