A basic gym in central?

Post by Levikane » Mon, 14 Jun 2010 10:43 pm

I'm struggling to find a basic gym in the central area. These California/Finance First chains are ludicrously expensive and I don't fancy paying $130 a month when I wont use 80% of the facilities.

No spin classes, No Kickboxercise, No yoga. In fact no communal sweat-shop of any kind!
No swimming pool, no sauna, no steam room, no executive outfit rental.
No juice bar, massage parlor, or DVD rental.
Definitely no pain in the ass trainers wandering around trying to sell personal training.

Just an old fashioned gym. A complete set of free weights, benches, some assorted machines and a locker/shower room.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Have you try checking out community centres around your office or home? Many of them have basic gym facilities (what you are looking for) and they are really cheap. I heard its like $2 or $2.50 per entry, so even if you go there 5 times a week, it works out to be $50 a month?

ClubFITT has gyms island wide. See here for location/times.

Don't know if all are still open or the per entry is still $2.50 but it's a place to start...
