Which Condo to live in with young family(under 1yr old twins

Post by ShadowPaladin » Sun, 13 Jun 2010 10:11 am

Hey everyone,

quick question, just relocated to Singapore, currently living in a Service Apartment with our young family.

We have under 1 yr old twins and trying to decide which place to live in. Thought somewhere near orchard rd so my wife can push the pram around the area so she is not stuck in the condo all day, but the condo must also have young families as well as good facilities.

Here are our choices, which we have looked at...

1. St Martin's Residence
2. Parc Infinia
3. Suites on Central

Does anyone have any experiences with the above condo's

All comments welcome

ShadowPaladin.

No experience with those condos but don't think it would be much fun pushing a pram around in Orchard Road every day - just shops & malls. I suppose you can duck into a mall if it gets too hot but with all the traffic and people it wouldn't be that nice! If she wants to be out and about every day how about considering East Coast (for the park) or Holland (the "village" and walking distance to Botanic Garden)? Heaps of expats and their families.

Thanks for everyone's comments..

Yes we probably think now Tanglin is the best area for us now due to proximity to Tanglin mall and Botanic Gardens.

Tanglin is definitely a great area for a young family. Be wary of the hotel behind St Martins Residence that has been threatening to come down in the last couple of years. Nassim Park (directly behind) is still being completed - but the worst is over - but if they start building where the hotel is it would be disastrous. Can also check out recently renovated Nassim Regency - bit further up but spacious units and no threat of construction.

I agree with earlier reply that your wife is not likely to walk up and down Orchard Road everyday. Even the Botanic Garden is hot and humid most of the day.

Find a condo with a relatively large enclosed area near town - like 5 mins by cab to Orchard Road if shopping malls are important. Bukit Timah, Balmoral etc. They are all good locations.
