Looking around for a new pc.

Kind of regretting that I didn't bring my old pc with me now to singapore.

sort of specs I am after:

4gb ram
300+ gb hard disk
3+ ghz processor
N wireless included
card reader slots included
preferably bluetooth included

In australia, I could pick up a box such as this (and actually much better) for under $600 at Aldi with 3 year warranty.

Can anyone advise of good offers in sg?

Mate

I'm not a Techie guy but if you scout around Funan and Sim Lim , you should be able to get something similar A$600.00 equivalent. I am not sure the exchange rate now. Brand wise it all depends to your taste.
Maybe I am wrong. I prefer Funan (Challenger Store) as it is more reliable. Sim Lim can be dodgy at times .

If you are not into the latest Intel processors you will be able to find bargains at Funan IT Mall in the price range you have indicated... which is about S$700... possibly a couple hundred more... does come with Windows 7 OS.

Don't bother with PC Show

Post by Levikane » Mon, 14 Jun 2010 10:05 pm

The only people that get good bargains at the PC show are the first 30 in line out of 3000 looking to get super cheap deals.

The PC show is just a disaster. You can hardly move, the promoters with microphones are way too loud, idiot parents take up the isle with prams and there are so many kiasu MF's pushing about will drive you crazy. You will honestly not get better prices at the PC show. In fact, when PC Show, IT Show, Comex, Sitex etc. are taking place, its an excellent time to visit Sim Lim and Funan, which are less crowded - and they all have the same prices anyway! Last IT show I found my Canon 550D $200 cheaper at Funan than the RRP advertised by everyone at the show!
Somebody out there recommend a simlim shop that won't rip anyone off?
Just avoid the bottom three floors, and the shops on the "outer ring" which are mostly selling crap anyway. The shops on 4-6 tend to be more respectful.

Splatted - go to Sim Lim, take the lift to 6th floor and walk clockwise down to 4th floor. Look for shops with stacks of boxes on the walls behind the counters, they tend to be system builders. Collect a price list from each shop, sit down and you will definitely find something in your price range. My last PC was from Video Pro, who I was happy with.
