Stop me if you've heard of this before

Post by nakatago » Thu, 10 Jun 2010 4:13 pm

So, you run into a post that runs like this:
Hi, I'm -female name-, single, -between the ages of 24 and 33-, professional, from -a Western country-. I just arrived in Singapore and would like to meet people in similar situations
Followed by several posts like:
Hi, -female name-, I'm -obviously a dude handle-, -between the ages of 24 and 35-, m. Please keep in touch: -still a dude handle-@-name of isp-.com
And then, OP continues to participate in other threads but obviously no longer in this one.

I do notice a lot of "fire-and-forget" posts around.

OP might be suffering from

1) Mild case of androphobia.
2) Milder case of xenophobia.

Actually most are suffering from the "I need 5 posts to activate my PM function" so I can reply to another thread!

Or it's a loser male like the one yesterday with 6 posts in about as many minutes. All 5 words longs and identical. What's his nick? Some misspelled mexican foodstuff or some such.

Either wrong responders or switched to PMs (warning, case sensitive!).

Not that I wish to be pedantic but it should be pm's. But I wouldn't be surprised if it were also PMS! :P

I'll excuse your pedantry if you'll excuse mine:

I'm not sure PMs qualifies for the exception laid out here since the second initial is capitalized as well as the first. This should preclude confusion; although it is funny to point out where the confusion may lie.

IMHO, it should be PMs.
