Withdraw CPF when REP has already expired

Post by dannysg » Sun, 06 Jun 2010 9:51 pm

Hi,
My brother has been out of Singapore for a few years and his REP has already expired. Can he still come back to Singapore to as a visitor and withdraw his CPF in full? Any problem he might encounter?

He has to formally renounce his PR and get a tax clearance from IRAS. Once that is done, he can take the clearance to the CPF board and they will wire it to any bank within 10 business days.

Hi SMS,
Understand that once REP expires outside Singapore, the person will lose his PR status. Is he still able to renounce PR even though he has lost PR status?

This is what he should do
1. Enter to SG on Social Visit Pass. You should have no problem if stop at border control declare your intention.

2. Surrender his PR card to ICA and get a clearance letter from them

3. Go to IRA SG and check if there is any taxes on previous year while working in SG is required to be paid. Get that all clearance letter from them

4. Then go to CPF board, it will only take 1 hr max to have his saving out by cashier cheque or demand draft or any bank in SG. If you are from M'sia , you cannot come back on work here again.
