I didnt knew you need to contribute to cpf or tax to get a credit card :o . I guess its your income which contributes to your application for credit card.

the banks assess your credit card application based on your monthly salary. they use your cpf contributions as a reference for the monthly salary that you earn.

you have to be employed in a job that pays you at least S$2500.00 per month and it is required that you be in the job for the last 6 months.

I hear there are some banks who approve credit cards to people who earn at least S$1700.00 per month nowadays

I have been looking at credit cards for expats...I have been working here for 2 months now and I saw on some sites that 45k annually is the minimum requirement....is there any way to apply if I earn below 45k?

S$30k annuall salary is the minimum requirement by Singapore law to get a credit card issued. I doubt that any bank will break this rule.
But you can get a debit card at any salary. It has all the same Master or Visa functionality except it's immediately deducted from your account and you cannot spend more than you have.

banks consider age and annual income to approve credit card .... I use DBS live fresh credit card...you can get it if you earn $30,000 in a year... they have different types of credit cards for different income ranges. .....for the card application need to submit NRIC and monthly salary details, also can submit CPF statement. check this for details http://bit.ly/b3uUSM

Carlsum, if you are not a Citizen or a PR, then you will need to be able to prove a basic salary of at least 45K/year, either by pay voucher (a current voucher) or your previous year's tax assessment (which you obviously don't have if you've only been here two months. Most of the banks require a minimum of 60K for expats. It's only a very few that offer 45K.
