Ok, it really sad seeing such a news. Althou I do not have any say in the changing if they have decided. But it is real pity to throw the image built up over decades and so distinctive not to be recognised.
Please! don't change the kebaya!

precisely! but SIA is standing firm, i don`t think they will change it. it`s the SIA symbol you know! different form other airlines with suits and all. it`s like even if you don`t know it`s called a kebaya, you know it`s SIA!

Think abt the risk in changing the uniform, think abt the hard work and effort and time put in to uphold the image of SIA. Think abt the distinctive image that SIA girl have created over the years, how much impact will there be to change the image?... then think about, how long does it take to brand SIA girl again. why wait till now, If it's worth the while to abandon the strong symbol of 'service excellence and singapore girl image'.

I think they shouldn't change it too...esp the kebaya, it's definitely a trademark, even ppl who have not been on a plane could recognize SIA girl through tht kebaya...

exactly man. 36 years of hard work building the singapore girl image, it`ll be a total waste to just change it like that.

it's not abt the waste, but the time to build another' New Singapore Girl" again.
the new image will be known as the 'New singapore girl' is born! logically.. i guess...
den, it brings SIA and it's business to another level.
Changing is not just changing. It's a major switch in business strategy and also business profiles and markets.
It requires not just patience and effort, but also money and involve many other business partners..
So, should this happen. the implementation would take at least 3 - 5 years. I hope meanwhile, they can consider again...
sighs.

CANT imagine SIA girls in business suit... we ll look like any other airlines... The whole idea of branding is about differentiating from the rest... I hope SIA wil NOT follow 'suit'.

We as commoners have no say. We can only await...
Well, business is always business..
SIA have very strong competitors, all in business suits. In a way, it does reflet professionalism and also respect.
let's just pray ok..

The article also mentioned that the Singapore girl is portrayed to be "subservient and like a sex object"... Gosh I think thats too imaginative... the Singapore Girl is portrayed to be GORGEOUS ... period!

i think as long as you can see curves on a woman, they will be like, "she`s portrayed as a sex object!" i mean, come on!

SQ to hire 2000 more cabin crew
I’m taking this as a positive sign that the flight industry is coming back, perhaps now it is finally safe to say that SG is reopened for good.

Sad day for many SIA crew, losing their jobs, hope they can soon get back to their jobs.
Pilots are taking 50-60% paycuts to keep their jobs.
