As compared to SIA, is the basic comparatively much lower (with the relaxed criteria) and allowances also lower considering SilkAir does not fly to European countries? If I am not wrong, the allowances in SIA for each trip is dependent on the country you fly to and the duration. However, SilkAir only fly regional.... Meaning significantly alot less for allowance? SIA gals can fetch ard $3,500 p.m. What abt SilkAir?

Hi,
I had recently became interested in being a cabin crew since it allows me to travel around. And Silkair is the first one that is recruiting right now.
So as an average, how much could one get as a monthly salary for silkair?
Do you think someone with a first class hons and a current monthly pay of S$2500 should apply? I am in a dilema as i am being offered a scholarship to do my phd. Someone pls advise.
Ta.

seriously,i would strongly advice u to go for ur PHD.Seriously.It's a chance not to be missed.Unless u are offered to be in SIA.or else don't.

Guest00: I also suggest you do your PHD. The basic salary for SIA is between $1.1k to $1.4k (from what I gathered from this forum). I think SIA only pays degree holder $1.4k to $1.5k as basic (excluding allowance). I can imagine what SilkAir is offering could be lower. I am uncertain if you were to be employed by SilkAir, will your total take home be more than your current $2.5k???? Their requirement is only "O" and "N" level. You deserve better credit/avenues for your 1st class honors!!!

Since you are so qualified, dont u feel wasted to give up your job to be a cabin crew? I think you should think twice. Not everyone is given a PHD. But no harm sending in your resume 1st. If they shortlist you and you pass the interview then consider again :)

I think we should be supportive to everyone and anyone who wishes to pursue any career.

For the individual with a First Class Honours degree, all I wish to say to you is - Follow your heart.

At the end of the day, we are not living your life for you. You are. You will be queried why you chose to give up academia to pursue this line of work.

For Silkair recruitment, the requirements are lower - so obviously I expect most of the O/N level candidates to apply, even if you have a degree, just apply.

Just try. There's no harm. I guess everyone just needs reassurance!

Hang in there ladies!

Budget Airlines - Tiger Airways, Valuair, AirAsia, JetStarAsia

Call them to check for recruitment as they are expanding fast. Valuair has the most potential.

dear Prof. phD-to-be, you are too over qualified for the job. u can still join SIA but be in the middle and upper managment team, they are always recruiting, just go to www.singaporeair.com.sg , go to 'About SIA', go to 'Career'. The pay will match your status, intelligence.

Dont let all the tuition fees paid for your tertiary education gone to waste.

Good God! This is the most boring, sleep-inducing internet message board post I've ever seen.

50+ pages of the same few questions over and over again, all about how to become a travelling waitress!

Can we make this more interesting? Can some of you aircrew tell us about catching people attempting to join the mile-high club? Can we compare stories about SQ girls we've shagged!

I bet I can remove a kebaya faster than some of you girls that wear/wore one every day. I love it when they come over right after flights...

Hi i wanna ask,

1)where would the silkair interview be held at?

2)And is it the same as SIA,as long as u met their requirements and send ur application,u will be called up for interview?Or they actually reject people with just photographs that we will send?

3)any bond for silkair?

4)will they be like SIA,when take height measurement, shorter than 158 will ask u to leave immediately?ANyone 158 and shorter tried for silkair before?

thanks
