You can request for flight only if you have a very strong reason with some form of proof. Approval is case by case basics. You can also change your flight with another crew who have what you want, its a hassle but not impossible. You won't get to fly to the same country regularly from normal rostering.

Yes its not easy to be one. Getting in is not easy but flying is even more challenging. Have you ever wonder why are they recruiting so many new crew? Its because the turn over rate is very high, many quit between 2-6 yrs. Some can't even wait and paid the bond to quit early. The job is not for everyone and 80% of the hopeful candinates don't even have the slightest idea of what the job entails before they are applied. After they got in they can't wait to get out.
Hi all,

What to expect to be a cabin crew, besides jet lags, demanding customers..we have heard about the good parts of being a FA. Anymore to know for the Cons before one decided to join this line and not quite / those can't wait to get our situation.

by the way, does the new comer get to fly long haul during the first year or 2? or there are maximum/furthest location which is 15 hours and not more than that?

Any office working professional who join as FA and do they manage to adapt and stay for long and currently still working with SIA?

Thanks for the patience and would like to hear from you guys!

Hi, SIA do have good roster planning department which means everyone gets to fly at least one long haul every month even though you are a new comer. (this is what I heard from my friend)

But flights to certain countries will always be the same old group of air stewardess/steward due to their good performance. (DO CORRECT ME IF I'M NOT WRONG)

I'm a office working professional too but I do hope that I can join SIA because desk-bound work gets boring for me. :(

With regards to the cons of being an FA, I guess it depends on individual. Everyone thinks differently. Some might detest the flying life after few months whereas some are enjoying every single bit of the flying life even after years.

All the best to you girl. :)

Hello! Thanks for the reply.:)))how can i address you?

i didn't know that certain flights would be with the same group, thats a good thing too!

i heard that currently SIA is no longer the same as few years ago as the stopover for mid & long haul countries has been reduced. For mid haul, maybe only one day & long haul i'm not too sure, is it only 2 days?

and you can only rest during the stopover because you gonna work the next day..

All the best to you too! just go and try out if you really wanted to persue this career..

usually round 1 would be A self-intro and a random question rite?? was damn nervous that time too... My question was what would you like to do for fun?? seems easy, but at that point of time was so nervous that it sounded so tough....

Btw, going for my third try this sat on 11th feb... btw, how old are u guys??

Hey quaint. Sorry for the misunderstanding. My first 2 tries was at Sheraton. 11th Feb will be my frist at Suntec. The furthest round I got to is Skin check. Got kicked out due to ORD. LOL. The recent recruitment I went is the on 3rd Dec. Was asked to go home when handed in my 11b after Round 1. I was told by the HR personnel that 6 months to availability is a long wait for them LoL.

@yoyobin yep, but for mine they only asked us to intro and tell them why we're at the interview. I got a more random question the second try; who is your favourite singer/actor/celebrity? I was pretty lucky i suppose to be in the middle of the group. The first person did not even remember to answer, felt quite bad for him. And the 2nd guy had to be prompted. I'm 22. :)

@rampalicious87 i see.. Well, let's hope this will be a better chance for the both of us! I got booted out at skin check on 3rd dec so hope this time round will be more progress! :)
