Hi,

I think there are alot of post here talking about what do you go through during the interview. For me, i'ma guy and i got through all stages but decided not to take a the job because of numerous reasons. But anyway, i'll be sharing my experience of the interview here once again and hope it will help.

I'm actually like anyone else just interested in getting a new job that will give me fun. first of all i'm always very updated in seeing the sia website checking the date of the interview. Once i got a date and decided to go and try i went to get all my documents ready. You do need to fill up a form that can be downloaded in the SIA website.

I reach the place at 7.30 and there was a long queue already. Interview starts at 8.30.

Waited for around 1hour and I went in for interview.

1st interview - 2 interviewer, 10 interviewee
Question varies, mine was "name a place that SIA fly to and why you want to fly there"

There is no right or wrong answer so i went ahead with introducing myself and told them i want to fly to India because after watching slumdog millionaire i want to go and see the real India. The trick is to keep it short and sweet so as to not reveal too much flaws in your speaking. I got thru and went for the next part

2nd is skin test and cat walk
They shine a bright white light on your face to check for scars, told me to walk towards her for around 5metres and fold up my sleeves for them to check any scars on my arm. If you have any tattoo or visible scars you will be sent home in this round. If you are too skinny or too fat most probably you will also be sent home

Third is a team game which i think is nonsense.

Followed by one to one interview.
They ask me what i can bring from my current job to being a air steward.
No right or wrong answer too. Just answer what you feel. I told them I can bring a big heart as my current job is a fire fighter (a life saver).

By now they were quite impressed already. then he continue to ask me if there was an old lady and a young girl, whom will you save? You can only choose one.
No right or wrong answer either. i chose the old lady because i feel that they have given so much to this society and i do believe everyone should make the effort of keeping them in this society.

End of interview and after waiting for around 10mins they told me I got into the final round which will be held at the HQ located at Changi. I quickly went to buy some new shirt and a new tie.

2nd day of interview.
There is only one round that will decide whether you would get through.
You are suppose to interview your partner and you have 5mins to know her. They are just testing how you speak. No stuttering or funny ascent and you will probably be safe. Next is debate. 3 in each team. 2 interviewer. Topic may vary. My topic is on gen-y. How does it affect the society.

I was against gen-y and i go on with talking about technology has ruined our daily life. Facebook has cause alot of molest and rape cases (yes its quite daring to say such stuff becos it may not be politically correct but i just go on). I continue to state how people are so distracted with Iphone and computers.

After waiting for around 20mins they told me I got thru. This is it. Its quite nerve wracking but what advice i can give you is always be yourself. Be open and friendly. Smile and sit straight during the interview. Start talking proper english at least a few weeks before you go for the interview and i believe you will do fine. If you fail the first time do go again if you are really interested.

Just my 2cents worth. :)
Look far brings you further

tienchin, if i'm going then probably yes.
i do have 5 Os.. didn't do well on the english though(big mistake on my part for being too much of a slacker back then..) :-|
the idea of trying out for cabin crew just came to me recently..took the WPLN..just in case..
anyway, i checked on wda website and they stated that SIA is in the list of employers who recognise WPLN. but then again..maybe not for the cabin crew side..
i guess we just have to be there to ask them ourselves

I would think that they don't go by BMI (body mass index) nor weight limits unless actually being overweight or so underweight that u look unhealthy. It is really based on how good u look in their uniform. Cus weight can also mean muscle not necessarily fat. :) I say go for it anyways! :) i didn't make it, but the effort is all worth it, going to try out again. :) wish u the best!
