Hey Bro,
I'm starting my training on the 5 Aug and I was called up for duty on the 30 Jul for the SYOG and NDP. And I deferred my callup.
I was just passing through the forum and I saw your plea of help. As far as I know, there is a standing order that you can defer your NS if you're under new employment and hence they can't touch you for 6 months from the commencement of your new job.
You can try deferring your callup on
www.ns.gov.sg and fax the documents over to your unit. I think the confirmation letter will suffice.
Hope this helps.

Anybody knows if one fails the management round, then they'll not be allowed to go for the next interview for at least 6months? Is that true?
Hoping to get a reply soon

Thank you..
hey TKWS...it depends on them really. They have a tendency to change it. For instance me, I failed my management on 10th March and I went for the 26th june walk in..Thats just 3 mths later. However they let me through saying the ban is 3 mths only but my friends who failed management ebfore that was told 6 mths.. I think it depends on whtr or not they need crew urgently. I'm starting my training on the 5th Aug... ^.^
Maybe you can try your luck after 3 mths and check with them before you go through ur first round if it is okay. hope i helped

hey perry1007, does your brother have any medical condition? if he does, then he may have to wait up to 3 weeks to get a clearance call till they are done assessing his condition... I waited for mine close to 2 weeks. Got a friend who tore his ligament and he waited 3-4 weeks for the call.

Hi crunkbabee

, thanks a lot for your advice. I was intending to go for the interview on 7 Aug, but don't think they'll allow me through though. I actually passed the management interview on 27 June, but failed the medical checkup cause of my blood pressure. It was really weird that my blood pressure was high during the SIA checkup cause i went to my family doctor after that, and it turned out to be normal. By then, it was too late as i've received the letter from SIA to inform me that my application was not successful

Guess it was all fated!
I'd like to wish everyone good luck for their training and for the upcoming interview

Did they actually tell you that you failed due to the blood pressure? if they did thn you can actually obtain a letter from your family doc and go back to the clinic and tell them the situation..they might review your case. A friend of mine did that bt this was before he got the letter. No harm trying..?

tkws, sorry to hear bout ur story. it is suprising that the doc did not refer you to do a more thorough check witht a specialist where you can wear a 24 hour blood pressure monitor machine to see whether u really have BP. i noticed that recently few guys were given this chance and they are reporting for training next monday. what is SQ policy on this matter??
anyway, i was in the same situation like u in 2006. somehow, the rejection was a blessing for me. if u r really keen on being a steward and wud like a way to handle ur stress in when u c doc, u can pm me. all the best!

@crunkbabee

they referred me to a heart specialist cause of my blood pressure, so it was definitely for that reason. I think it's too late for me to do anything now; plus, I don't want to receive bad news again. Will try again for the future interviews.
Best of luck for your training and thanks so much for your help

@serembanboy

I tried to pm you but wasn't allowed cause I've not post enough posts yet. haha

they referred me to a heart specialist like I had posted on the above to crunkbabee:) I took the 24hrs 'test' and I did not pass the 'test'. I spent quite a lot for that check up and still did not make it(felt more sad cause of my $$ though). haha! I'm curious, why would you say it was a blessing that you weren't successful? I think you're the only one who'll understand how I felt when I received that letter.

SQ to hire 2000 more cabin crew
I’m taking this as a positive sign that the flight industry is coming back, perhaps now it is finally safe to say that SG is reopened for good.
