That's why he won't love it, read his first post. A lot of people can't afford to fly due to the recession and those that do including businesses are looking to save money.

my previous flight with A380 frm Sg to Syd was full and so did the return flight ...
hope that everybody like me keep flying with SQ ^^

hey strong eagle ... try A380 .. sure you will love it though you pay double ..
*wink
It was about 2 or 3 years ago that SQ hiked its business class rates horrendously. On SQ it costs my S$10,000 to fly to the US, on EVA about S$5,500, and on Thai S$5,000 or less.

I try to never fly SQ unless there is no alternative because the service differential is not worth the cost differential, business or economy.

SIA is very short of crew now. All crew rostered for courses are being put on Stand By and confirm get call up for duty ! Don't be happy yet, the reason behind this is because the management made a mistake by allowing too many crew to go on voluntary no pay leave. Situation will become worst for the next few months During the school Holidays and Festive seasons. The take up rate is so high and many get rejected ! Why the high take up rate? The job is no longer as "fun" as before, crew morale is low due to many factors and now it is about all work and no play. Many new crew can't wait to finish their bond and leave.

Long time no see, long time no see!! :D That's certainly hopeful, though we really shouldn't be too happy. Yet. Maybe we'll see this forum buzzing with all the excitement again soon~ I'm still waiting...!

I thought someone here said SIA is not short of crew? Now Abercrombie said SIA is short of crew again. If this is true then we hope SIA will start recruiting again :D

No Sir, not quite. I think you may have missed a quote in Abercrombie's post which contradicts his first sentence; this is because the management made a mistake by allowing too many crew to go on voluntary no pay leave. . What he means is SIA is not short of crew but has simply put too many on hold so to speak. I think it will be some time before that 11 percent of the fleet can be used again. :(

hi people! i'm a fresh grad out of college hoping to get a job is SIA too. Any idea where will i get a whiff of when's the new intake? the official site says that they will update it, but it seems like the last update was last year, sort of.

also want to enquire will it be harder for a male to get a job in SIA, chances wise?

Thanks for you time. :)

Well, based on what Abercrombie just said, we might have one recruitment soon... Then again, there are those on stand-bys.. so nobody really knows. I don't think gender affects chances.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong =)

Kelvin,

Be patient. Have you watched the news tonight? SIA is recovering on the right trend. The Yeild is getting better. Soon will have recruitment exercises. I also cross my fingers and wait patiently. As you know, Patience is one of those elements which any Flight Attendant must have.

By the way, if you don't mind, we can be friend. I am a "FA wannabe" too.

Whassamatter no sense of humour? :o By the way I would have thought it pretty obvious there will be no recruitment for some time, it has been mentioned more than once 11% of the fleet has been mothballed.
