Anyone knows of any stewards who get into SIA at the age of 30?
I am a guy,28 this year...Age is catching up with me...Afraid that 2009 recruitment may halt,I may not make it into SIA before the age of 30....

I managed to get to the management interview in FEB this year afterwhich I stopped attending the walk ins after being booted out.Until recently,I started going to the write in OCT but was booted out at the first round.

Time is not enough for me!!!

When will training starts for you? Are you available immediately or do you have to serve a notice period prior joining SIA?
thank you !

Eh, actually I'm available immediately because I resigned from Fullerton 2 mths ago. So my last day at work was just after the F1.

My bf asked me what am I gonna do since i resigned. I was still thinking of what to do. Studies ? Vacation ? Or get another job ...

Eventually this came and I'm glad it came !!!

Jet- going for 23th interview ?

People gets matured with time. They didn't have any restricted age so I feel that if you are really keen, why not ?

Do your best !

I wouldn't dare answer and say that age is a factor; had a buddy who felt the same and managed convince him to give it a shot, there he is globe trotting. Head out there buddy, am certain our forum mates share mine sentiments. Cheers!

I see! Yes I am going to try for the 23rd interview, this is going to be the 2nd time. I got booted out in the 3rd round last friday.. hopefully things will be better this time. Sherrielyn, if you don't mind, may I ask which interviewer you got on friday in your 3rd round? Was it a lady who looks like in her 50s? Small eyes and of small stature?

How is medical like? Do you just go to Raffles Medical Centre anytime after the 3rd interview and have the results back in a few days? They only check spine and eye sight right?

Thanks so much dear, you are a great help! All the best sweets!

Hi all, originally wanted to try the walk-in this 23rd Nov, but I read somewhere that SIA is very strict with qualification requirement. As I only have 3 O Levels credits (despite I got A1-Chinese and B4-English), I guess I am not going anymore. I don't want to make myself look like a fool and make them scream at me for my ignorance. Although it does feel very sad. I don't think they have accepted anyone who doesnt meet the 5 O Level credits requirement? :(

When you meant 3rd interview, does it mean right after the kebaya ? The 1 to 1 interview ?

If thats what you are saying, then i don't think so. She's very young, no specs but pettie in size.

On medical , we were told to head to Parkway health which is located in Pagagon. And it isn't after the 3rd interview. It was the 4th which was management where you will be interviewed by the spokesman of SIA and the VP for cabin crew services.. And based on what they say, it will take around 3 working days to be sent back to SIA and takes another 2 days before they will call and inform you to head back to sign your bond with a gurantor.

And we were told to give a urine sample, simple eye sight test, color test, height, weight and an xray of the lungs.

Do you have any working experience ? Maybe if you are in another airline for quite sometime you can try ?
Anyways its all about customer service they are looking for.
No harm trying...

I started working after O levels. Not really alot of customer service experience I will say, but my previous job is in hospitality and tourism. I don't have any higher qualification besides O levels. If I meet their requirement I will definitely go, but now I really don't know. :?

Oh I see, thanks for your elaborate input. Did you go down to Parkway Health right after the final round? i.e. the same day itself, since I supposed you will finish the 4th round quite early as it starts early in the morning. If that is the case, you should be expecting a call from them to sign the bond sometime on the 7th, friday or 10th, monday.

The bond is 2 years if I'm not wrong? Or has it changed to 6 months?

:)

You will be required to sign a 5 year renewable contract with SIA.
The bond is 18 months.
Thanks! Just for clarification, the bond of 18 months does not include 4 months training right? So, all in all, its actually 18 + 4 = 22 months service with SIA.

May I also ask how much is the gratuity after 5 years with SIA?

The bond is 18 months(inclusive of the 4 months training).Just so you know,if you decided to quit during training, you still have to pay the bond.

The gratuity after 5 years service with SIA is around 20K-30K(I'm not very sure, this is the best of my memory).
