last time SIA ad uses to post local poly dip as requirements but now they only put degree/diploma. so i'm wondering does private diploma taken into consideration now? i'm 23 already, by the time i finish my diploma already 24.. old liao :(

For interested parties, these are the details of each round (a few blogs have helped me before my try so I shall pass it round =)):

Round 1: Self-intro

A group of 10 gals will be ushered into a room with 2 interviewers and we're supposed to intro ourselves and talk about why we wanna join SIA. Sometimes they might ask something different though, like what kinda food is your favourite or which book you're reading recently. Keep your answers short and sweet. Talk about your customer service experience. SMILE SMILE SMILE. Most of the time, this round has a failing rate (practically all rounds have failing rates actually haha) but 8 outta 10 gals from my round got through! I think we broke some record or something haha. But I heard there are groups where none of the gals got in at all. Sometimes it depends on your luck or whether they like your face I would think.

Success rate: 4-5/10

Round 2: Kebaya round

You'd be ushered into this room, height and weight taken. Go to a rack of kebayas and start choosing IMMEDIATELY. You only have 5 minutes to choose and change. And some of the kebayas don't have size tags, so you gotta really try it on. Make sure it's fitting, especially the top. Very important. Make sure your waist is prominent (in my own opinion). After wearing, we gotta wait for our turn to parade in fronta interviewer. Walk normally, but with poise and grace. SMILE. She will check our hands to make sure there are no scars or blemishes. Some questions might be posed. Simple ones, so don't worry at all. SMILE. If you pass this round, you will be directed to the skin check.

Success rate: 4/10

Round 3: Skin test

You will be asked to stand in front of 2 huge spot lights and be scrutinised by the interviewer. Don't worry if you have a little bit of imperfection; as long as it can be concealed, it's fine. Neck, face and shoulder blades are important. Your hands will also be checked here again.

Success rate: 4/10

Round 4: 1 to 1

Normal 1 to 1 kinda interview. I was given many scenarios on flight and I gotta just use my immediate instincts to answer them. Things like being scolded for something you didn't do or being "touched" on flight. A passage was given to me to be read too; somewhat like oral. Just be super friendly and SMILE. Find out some stuff about SIA too. At the end of my interview, the interviewer told me he felt that he was talking to a friend so I supposed that's something good =)

Success rate: 5-6/10

Round 5: Final management round

Ushered into a room with 2 judges. Mine were super nice and friendly; walked up to shake my hand and intro-ed themselves when I got into the room. If yours don't, I suppose it's good to take the initiative. They will ask personal questions regarding your work or studies, and your family. Just be natural. And don't give politically right answers; just be yourself! I think they prefer personal answers to those which can be found online haha. Relax and SMILE. At the end of the interview, they will ask if you have any questions for them. This is the last moment you can impress them, so please ask intelligent questions.

Success rate: 7-8/10

Afterwhich, we will have to go for the medical test, consisting X Ray, eye check, height and weight, colour blindness, breasts check.

And, that's it! Water confidence test and the tea session are cancelled for my interviews. But I'm not sure about the rest. No worries however! Just be yourself and make your personality shine!

Hi jol,

I think you might want to try should you have a diploma, although the chance will not be very high, as they emphasize alot on the linguistic ability. If you are granted an interview after they briefly screen your application form, then you are rather safe. Good luck! :)

Hi intoxicating,

my situation was like you before. I emailed SIA with enquiries on the private diploma when they stated in their advertisement w either 5 O levels or a local diploma. A lady emailed me to aplogise that I am not eligible for it.

Recently, I noticed that they did take out the word "local" & I went to try. To be honest, I was afraid that they will tell me that I do not meet the minimum qualification. But they did not, after screening my form for awhile, I was let into taking my height & waited for the 1st round. Do not worry that you will be old by then, cos I am older than you! :) Good luck! :)
