English is not only needed but very important. All thanks to all those people who commented that the stewardesses in SQ can't speak proper English !!!!
So now if your Spoken Engllish is half past six then you better go and do sometime about it.

Congrats Venie.
Your first flight will prolly be either MEL, SYD, NRT or HKG if you're rated for 744.

It means that you are train to fly in the 747 aircraft. Due to shortage of crew, new trainees might not be train in 747 fleet liao. This is to reduce the training time and have them pass out as cabin crew as soon as possible. Don't be surprise to get "turn around" for 1st solo too

Hello ppl...
got a bit of bad news here, hope someone can advice me..
I got a call from the clinic to go back for a second X-ray...
again my spine problem.. i was put under observation for scoliosis during my primary and sec sch period.. but after few years of observation i was discharged...
two of my friends who went for the medical checkup were also having the same prob..
i just wanna ask whether will it affect our medical results?? Any current crews here been thru the same experience??

Hi Venie
Since the doctor in the past has certified you to be fine...perhaps u want to show them the past medical reports?
Its up to the doc to decide how serious is your condition..because the medical report will be written by the clinic doc & submitted to SIA to decide if you are fit for flying...
After yr 2nd Xray, call the clinic up & check with the doc abt yr condition & what she thinks about it...
Dont worry, stay hopeful ya...everything is going to be ok...
I have a fren who had some med issue, then went to specialist & doc certified her to be fine....SIA put her application under consideration but eventually employed her & now she is going thr her training!

actually...for medical checkup...no news is good news....if yr medical check is ok....the clinic will not call u....SIA will need some time to gather all the passed candidates into a class before they will call u up for your training date...

After the medical I think no news is good news until SIA call you to sign the bond. Did you ask why you need to take a 2nd X-Ray? Maybe the 1st one doesn't turn up well so need to retake? If the problem is not big, try telling the doctor how much you want to fly and hope that he can cover for you lah, if the problem is not big, I guess he will do that.

that's because the doc saw my spine is a bit on the curve side, but she needs a detailed x-ray on the spine before conclude whether i am up to it.

There is nothing to hide if you have not done any thing wrong right? I hope SIA do call up past employer inorder to filter out all those black sheep so that they will not cross over and poison the Cabin Crew Department

SQ to hire 2000 more cabin crew
I’m taking this as a positive sign that the flight industry is coming back, perhaps now it is finally safe to say that SG is reopened for good.

Sad day for many SIA crew, losing their jobs, hope they can soon get back to their jobs.
Pilots are taking 50-60% paycuts to keep their jobs.

They can come here but not so much for local going there.
