Hello everyone,

I just got rejected after my health check up today. I suspect it’s my spine, because I had to do an X-ray. I emailed them asking for a reason. Do you think they will reply? Or do you think I can call up Fullerton to check? I mean it’s my own results right, I should know? Thank you.

I've went for the interview on 12 March and medical on the 17 March, received the email that my application was unsuccessful 2 weeks later. I suspected it to be due to the high blood pressure readings as they measured multiple times. I went back to Fullerton Health and speaked with the GP who informed that they took my blood pressure multiple times but was high. The GP referred me to a specialist.

Note: At this point of time, SIA had already said my application was unsuccessful. However, I proactively did the follow up myself in hopes to appeal.

At the specialist clinic, I did several tests such as Echocardiogram and 24hr Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring(ABPM). The specialist concluded that my blood pressure was normotensive and it was just nervousness at the clinic. They term this 'White Coat Syndrome". Specialist provided me the medical reports, wrote a medical review/memo stating that everything was normal, no abnormalities and does not require any lifestyle change and discharged me back to the GP. Paid almost $1k for the tests and consultations.

Went back to the GP with the medical report and review/memo, the GP seem hesitant to clear me fit for flying despite being normal as stated in the specialist medical report and memo. She explicitly said that White Coat Syndrome might affect me when I'm at high altitude. White Coat Syndrome only happens when I'm in the clinic, as proven in the 24 hour ABPM, does she not know? However, I provided her the original documents and she informed that she would send it to SIA HR as a supporting document, albeit quite hesitantly.

Anyway I emailed SIA the medical report and memo since 9th May in hopes to appeal as I am perfectly healthy, but no replies.

I guess they have their own protocol in which they will not entertain appeals after sending the rejection email even though you're healthy.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I actually read somewhere that they replied someone’s appeal email that the outcome will not change regardless if they walk in to try again, but I’m not sure if it’s because of their medical condition which is probably different from yours, or something else entirely like being booted before the medical round (can’t remember the reason they got rejected). So it seems like they actually have responded to appeal emails in the past. Not sure if this is a good sign for you or not, but just to let you know.

@Happystar3

I've actually read the post where they replied to the appeal email which you're referring to. Most other replies to appeals are like from 2010s.

I'm a local!

17th Feb - Digital Interview
12th March - STC Interview
17th March - Medical at Fullerton Health
31st March - Unsuccessful Email

Due to covid, I gave up this dream for 2 years. Now, I don't know if I should try again as I have some concerns

Crew or those who joined recently, please help if possible.

Could you share
1. When you're on probation you'll be bullied?
2. Long haul flights, is it only for 1.5 days?
3. Any other experiences - both good & bad - that you're willing to share :)

I've sent in the appeal email with the medical report and memo since 9th May and they haven't replied or contacted me. Considering there's nothing wrong with me since the specialist cleared me, not sure what is SIA looking at :???:

Hi i have went for the final interview on 12th march and medical on 16th march. Waited about 2 weeks and received rejection email on 31st march. On the medical day itself my bp was high so i took couple of times before it was within the good range and i suspect was due to excitement. The nurses told me all in order. Since the rejection email i was quite devastated and i had applied again. Do let me know if appeal works and at the moment i'm lost.

From where I am sitting, if you are cabin staff and an emergency arises, you will be worth SFA in the cabin if you have a heart attack due to a tendency to get HBP with just a little excitement. What is a blown out window and a cabin rapidly losing pressure going to do to your BP. I think they might be on to something.

Hi everyone, I’m starting training on 29 June :) Does anyone know if the foundation they use needs to be super full-coverage and matte? I prefer more light-coverage hydrating foundations…
