Play group for helpers

Post by Sydneygal » Sun, 16 May 2010 9:42 pm

Hi

I am a Mum of a 16 month old and both hubby and I work full time. We currently employ a baby sitter and have just employed a lovely helper who starts in two months. I am really keen for my little boy to attend play group, as I used to take him once a week before returning to work but it seems that many places have a 'no-maid' policy. Why is this? Is no on else in the same situation? Surely it is a great opportunity for helpers and kids to socialise?

Does anyone know of a structured play group that is open to maids attending with kids? My little boy just loves playing with other kids but don't want to pay for an expensive daycare/kindergarten for just one day per week

Thanks for any advice

Definitely check out St. George's playgroup on Tuesday mornings... your little one is a perfect age to attend and it's mostly helpers with children. Most of them take the children to the botanics for lunch after the playgroup session. Also Grace Kids (Great World City) has several programs for that age group and the helpers attend with the children.

I've seen quite a few helpers at various playgroups. I go to JWT at Eastgate, Royce's play gym and Liang Court and Bibinogs at UE Square and all three of those there are helpers there in place of the parents so you could try those.

I live in the east and a group of us have our helpers meet up with the babies. Any chance you are living in the east? Would love to have more such playdates for Aidan. He's a bit younger though. Born April 2009
