you know this thing about CCTV ?? Most bar/Disco CCTVs are only to keep an eye on crowd control and not to be used by a victim/criminal as a form of defence/evidence ..
Been there- more than once, when cops walked into the security room, reviewed the tapes and found the lighting was not good enough to see what was going on - and by law - the bars don't need to spend millions on high def cctv that can read a person's IC number etc ..
So - those who swear CCTV has proof - better learn the reality is not so true ..
For the cops, CCTV come in useful when working out bar fights mainly ..
my 2 cents..
PS: regardless of the intention to safeguard the valuable, the case seems so cut and dried as a theft gone wrong .. I maybe wrong .. I have caught enough guys/girls stealing in bars, and they always claimed that they were safe-guarding for friends, and the so called friends are those who he/she befriended a few minutes ago .. and then again, I also wonder why people have to take everything except the kitchen sink - into the bar - and not use the locker ..

I find it odd that he went into the toilet to take the phones out of the bags. If he was a friend he, would have no problem emptying the bags in public, going into the toilets, No CCTV make's it all that more premeditated that something is being taken for illegal reasons. Sorry just my opinion.

The OP says "....he was finding them but suddenly i dont know he has a difficult time or whatever, he took out their phones and some cash .."
And then this goes:
"...but he told police that it was just he afraid that he was so drunk and in case,if he left some bags , he dont wanna lost his friends valuable things so thats why he kept their things inside his jacket . Is it so unreasonable ?"
He wanted help and this is called to have difficult time?
I am afraid it does not make any sense at least for me.

I really want the judge to consider her reason of stealing the phone if its was the truth.

Low crime, but not no crime ..
If you want ZERO crime, I know a place in Philippines, ZERO crime .. and from what i know - maybe that's the only place in the world, apart from some cold ice research station in Antartica .. maybe ..

you can just lodge a magistrate's complaint. it's pointless wasting money on a lawyer if the case doesn't go anywhere...
make sure you visit a doctor and get the injuries photographed!

Hi, need some advise for my dumb sister...
She is working in a company and she steal from her own company, she took the stuff(S$300) and put inside her bag. When passing through security check she got it....
Now the case is with the police, they are going to charge her under Servant Theft, max of 7 year jail term.
She a 1st timer, no record before...now at a age of 21..still studying, took a loan for study, mum is just a food stall assistant.Steal the cloth for mum birthday next mth....report back to IO (not very nice guy) on 5 SEP.
Will she get away with a warning? Is there a need to find a lawyer for this...
Thank in advance for the help

Hi all
We are in a bit of trouble and are soo soo worried.. it all seems harmless but the cops seem to be taking it very seriously..we were at a bar (3guys 3 girls) boys stay at this bar while the girls go to another to dance..my wife got stopped going down an escalor with a lit ciggarette you can smoke at the top of the escalator and the bottom but not on the escalator. Anyway they got very aggressive with her and her friends and all these guys from a near by bar ( we later found out one was the manager) started abusing them caling them dirty expat fcuks and wha not.. my wife came up to me to get her ID and I followed her down there.. the abuse was crazy so i whipped out my phone and said i was taking pictures. there was 8 guys (them) and only me amy other friend.. we abused them back and broguht the girsl upstair to leave.. they followed us up the stairs threahing us (the manager of the bar where we did not even go in took out his lighter and saidf he would burn one of the girls) anyway me and my two mates got involved in a scuffle nothing too serious and no bobdy ended up in hospital.. but the cops took our statements and we are worried.. i have rang a lawyer to get advice and she said the girls can go to the Police Station and give their statments with out a lawyer (the cops rang and said they have to go in which is what has us nervous) we waited for 6 hours at the venue for an investigator to come and take our statements (she ony took the guys).. any advise people would be much appreciate.. the lawyer mentioned something like lower level assault could be laid on us..could we do time?? no previous convictions for as much as a speeding ticker.. this all seems blown out of proportion.. i know its singapore and they are strick but surely the fact that they came up the stairs after us give us a right to protect our sleves.. 8 guys against 3

Why did they get aggressive in the first place?
From where I stand, a simple, "sorry about that; won't do it again" would have prevented a lot of stuff. IANAL but I'm not sure if that's still possible at this point.
