I am self employed and thinking of relocation to Singapore.
I spoke with an immigration lawyer and at first he told me all about the Entre Pass. OK.... But its probably too complicated for me, as my business does not involve numerous employees etc.
Then he said I have a second option to setup a company with the lawyer as nominee director, and have that company sponsor me to be employed in Singapore, and once I arrive swich myself to be the director. He said the only requirement for this is to have a University Degree.
However this seems a little odd to me on reflection.
The Entre Pass is one thing for self employed to employ Singaporeans and bring new business to Singapore. And the Employment pass is another thing to come and work for a Singapore Company, and the Govt. website is quite clear that to qualify for Employment pass it should be well established Singapore company, which I assume does not include one registered yesterday and with nominee director.
It seems like its a bit of a sales pitch, and they want deposit of $300 per month 12 month inadvance, refundable prorata, to be nominee director.
They can easily take this money and then turn around and tell me, sorry, you have to use this company to do Entrepass, which is too complicated for my situation and probably not possible.....
So he takes a quick $3600 for nominee director, plus all his other costs and fees, and basically I end up with nothing.... seems like nice money if you can make it no ?
Does anyone know more about this work around Entre Pass / Employment Pass ? Or do you think it sounds dogey ?
