some time after it's release in the US. Word of advice, if you don't buy now, you won't buy when the 4G is released either, because they will already be talking about a 4.5 or 5G in order to get you to keep upgrading. If it's got all you want and more now, then buy it. If you aren't gonna use all it's got now, why bother to wait. Better yet, why buy it at all if you ain't gonna being using all it's got? Seems kinda wasteful to me somehow, that or just bragging rights.

Sorry, but I would not buy the 3GS and if I were to buy the 3GS, I would not buy it until the 4G is out and on the market for sale.Jayeff13 wrote:That's very good advice, I shall get the 3GS next week!
First, the 4G, according to high probability rumors, has a faster processor, double the storage, higher resolution AMOLED screen, better camera and several other features. If you buy the 3GS, be aware that you are buying older technology, fine if it meets your needs, and not so fine, if you plan on owning for a while and want to take advantage of upgrades (for example, 3G owners will not be able to upgrade to 4.0 OS).
Second, I'd expect at least a 20 percent decline when the new model comes out. Apple heavily discounted the 3G when the 3GS came out to clear inventory and I would suspect the same thing will happen again.

3G owners can upgrade to OS 4.0, except several main features like multitasking will not be available.Strong Eagle wrote:Sorry, but I would not buy the 3GS and if I were to buy the 3GS, I would not buy it until the 4G is out and on the market for sale.Jayeff13 wrote:That's very good advice, I shall get the 3GS next week!

I'm not sure if iPhone 4G will be immediately in Singapore after Apple launches it, since it is using micro-SIM, telcom carriers here will need to launch new SIMs as well.
And even when iPhone 3G is available at entry price ($99) in US, here in Singapore it's still considered moderately expensive even if you get with a basic 3G surfing subscription plan.
Truth be told, I still don't think 3GS prices will be discounted much here in Singapore telecoms. I just don't see it happening.
So if you want to use the features iPhone can offer, and make your life more convenient, by all means, get a 3GS now. Why wait until new one comes out? Cos as in all technologies, when mass market gets their hands on a newly launched product, a better product is already being developed and making the launched product obsolete.

Agree! If you look at the iPhone store on apple USA website, the 8GB 3G is only $99 USD (yes, on contract to AT&T). 3GS might not go that low, but will have significant price drop when 4G released.Strong Eagle wrote: Second, I'd expect at least a 20 percent decline when the new model comes out. that alone sealed it for me...Strong Eagle wrote: higher resolution AMOLED screen
