Apple (Macintosh) stuff

Post by KindClare » Fri, 30 Apr 2010 11:24 pm

I was reading a thread on what to buy before coming to Sg and one of the things a few people mentioned was Apple stuff. This caught me by surprise as I know there are at least 2 Apple stores in Singapore. Maybe someone can elaborate why to buy at home rather than in Singapore?

* for one thing, unless you're from the UK, you don't get the ridiculously large plug for the charger
* US stores still get the newer models first.

It all depends on where you're coming from. Not sure how good priced are in the UK, but I'm guessing they're not great if Apple TV costs 223 GBP there and 229 USD in the US.

Best to just compare the prices for what you're looking for as they could vary significantly depending on the product(s) in question:

Usually you will find the best pricing on Apple equipment in the US in USD$. Apple decides on the exchange rate that it will price its goods at in overseas markets. So it is not always a straight conversion as a margin seems to be allowed in there for currency fluctuations.

So if you get the change, buy it in the US! :)
