Where to buy a Diamond Ring

Post by louy » Wed, 28 Apr 2010 5:16 pm

I have to find a ring, pretty soon.

I do not know anything about rings or diamonds, so where is a good place to go so I dont get ripped off.

I honestly struggle to distinguish between a diamond ring and plastic shaped like a diamond glued to a ring. I dont want to end up paying diamond ring price for a plastic ring.

Congratulations!

Be careful with small stores check online prices at places you know and trust first to get an idea. Remeber if it looks too good to be true it probably is. All diamonds should be certified and will come with the original certificate so check for this as well.

I know this sounds unlikely, but Youth Jewelery (in the hotel next to Tangs) are really good. I was recommended by a friend (who is a jewelery buyer) and got a fantastic ring at a good price. I would never use the big chain stores as I have found their quality to be poor. If you buy a $2000 ring that's automatically discounted 50%, chances are it's probably not even worth $1000 anyway.
