Aptitude test

Post by treack » Mon, 24 Oct 2011 12:49 am

Hey Guys,
As mentioned before, I too had to go to the Aptitude test even though my Degree was legit and I come from a renowned university from the US. ( Maybe I was a freshie, that's why they don't believe in me).

I sat for my Aptitude test last week, and all I can say is DO NOT WORRY. You do not need to be very good at English, even any language to take test. Let me break it down for you.

PART 1: Question 1-25:20 seconds to answer
Q 26-40:25 seconds to answer
Q 41-60 (i can't remember exactly):30 Sec to answer

The questions are the same but in order of increasing difficulty, which explains the more time allocated for the latter questions.

The question example can be found here:

Basically you need to determine what comes next after the sequence of patterns. DOn't worry though! the example i gave is one of the hardest questions in the test. So there is only about 3-4 questions of this difficulty. The rest should be easy!

PART 2 & 3: Not relevant and wouldn't be counted because it is asking for your understanding of how Singapore is and the feedback to the test itself.

I hope this helps! good luck!

I am always surprised how many authors of such tests make a very basic mistake clearly suggesting the right answer by wrongly designing the answer set. Without analysing the sequence you can guess the right answer is likely "B".

There are also literally dozens of tests that they use so your odds are extremely unlikely to get that same test. I had two guys sit the test at the same time and both tests were different. Good luck. I guess you must have had a masters, yeah?

I just read all of the old posts in this thread. It makes me feel better that MOM requires this test of some people :)

I've come to grips that subtle sarcasm and irony are becoming appropriate responses, given that a lot of people miss them anyway.

If you have a masters and are applying for an S pass type of job, test for sure.

A question mark would mean a lot ..

What, there's only only one 'reputed' university in the whole country? Surely not - many people claim to have degrees, masters, etc. from such places; did they all attend the same institution?

Dear Friends,

This is my first time employment in singapore, some of friends told they applied for S pass and attend the test but they failed.

MOM said them to return to their home country.
