Batam for seafood??

Post by gen-y » Thu, 22 Apr 2010 10:40 am

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone can give me some suggestions on a good seafood place in Batam. Going on a weekend trip in mid May. I read that Golden Prawn is the fav. Suggestions anyone?

Golden Prawn isnt really that nice. You can try the restaurant in KTM resort. The massage service there is very good, (face open sea while you are enjoying the massage) the food is not bad as well. Enjoy the trip. =)

I will NEVER step my foot in Batam. I would rather stay in Singapore and eat expensive but quality seafood. Seafood in Batam is tiny and the cooking style doesn't appeal to me.

That's a pretty sweeping statement, seeing that there's over a hundred SF places in Batam and the local Chinese are of identical ethnic background to those of Singapore e.g. Teo Chew, Cantonese, Hokkien etc.

My favourite night time SF places are 999 in the Hotel Pacific's seafront food court and Hai San at A1 foodcourt - both in Nagoya & very reasonably priced.

Forget about Golden Prawn, they are known to double your bill and give 1/2 to the taxi driver who delivered you.

For a nice lunch over the sea , you cannot beat the Rezeki at Batu Besar, 5km past the airport.

Seafood at KTM Resort at the other end of the island from Rezeki, is also good for a family outing.

I went to A1, it sucks badly. I didn't even see a crab that weighs 1.5 kg. The crabs I had in Singapore weighs about 2kg. And that place is sleazy or should I say most of the place is sleazy. I went Batam for 3 days, on the first day I wanted to come back badly. Maybe it's just me but for me, no way!
