Do a search of this forum. It's been discussed numerous times here. Start with skype, pfingo, phoenix comms., etc.

Skype to Singapore mobile is great when you pay the monthly subscription and select Singapore as the country you can call for free (mobile phone #'s here are included).

As for the other way around, do a search. I only call landlines there (and rarely as such) and doing so from my mobile is perfectly fine (22c first minute, 8c per minute thereafter).

Definitely Skype. I've got outward Skype which costs me S$0.03 per minute. I've got a phone number in Houston for inward Skype that costs me about US$40 per year. I've got Skype for iPhone. Works really good on good wifi networks, and works fine in many places in Singapore on Singtel 3G.

Oh poor old farm-boy...he's been hangin' around these here parts so darn long that nothing grabs him any more! I can almost hear him sighing with boredom as some other poster says something like "what's that smell in the taxis here??...."
He he.....workin' on a challenge for you now sms! 8-)
