Of course these days the cats are force fed so now it's just way overpriced formerly poop covered coffee with an extra helping of animal cruelty.
I'm dying to try this:

There are several websites which provide a good place to have a nice cup of coffee. Although the choices may be "too hipster" (for some people), I'll just drop by and drink it.

On the other hand, the ordinary kopi works well for me :P

Tim Hortons on Orchard make a nice cup of latte. It's right next to somerset, it's one of the places on my like list.
To get there early is on time and showing up on time is late

How about "Chye Seng Huat", "Stranger's Reunion", or "Toby's Estate"? I found these 3 inside the timeline.

I recently discovered La Ristrettos. It's hidden on the 8th floor of Novena Medical Center. I think it's the only F&B establishment in the medical center itself. Boy, was I impressed. They do seem to roast their coffee on site.
Anyway, this place is convenient only if you actually work around Novena.

My weekend favorite is Assembly at Evans Rd. It's a tiny place, but with excellent, rich coffee. Probably won't be able to get seating on a weekend morning.

CSH, 40 Hands/Common Man, and Penny Uni (East Coast) are some of the tops.

Why pay 5,6 or $7 for something that has 0% alcohol in it? ;)

On a serious note, I really miss the Gloria Jeans outlets at Suntec and Vivo. Don't like Starbucks, but they currently have a 1-for-1 tall latte promo when paying with Flashpay which is good enough for me. I wouldn't pay the regular price, but at 1/2 off the taste-to-price ratio is much better. :)

I second the suggestion of a Nespresso machine.

I think we paid euro100 for one in Europe about a year ago, and it came with a carton of 250 sample capsules (maybe 12 different blends, with descriptions, tasting notes, and so on, which made trying each blend more interesting).

There are mornings I might have perhaps 3 cups, and other weeks I'll stick to tea. Either way we still have half the capsules still to go.

I've narrowed down my favourites to 2 blends, and my wife is going to pick some up when she's soon over in Europe. IIRC over-the-counter a box of 10 capsules of your specific choice of blend is about euro6.50 = S$1.10 per coffee.

p.s. I was looking at reusing the capsules , or buying a custom made reusable pod (refer videos on Youtube demonstrating both!). But my wife accused me of being cheap :-D

Coffee is overrated. Sometimes I feel like I'm paying $5.60 for a place to sit for half-an-hour or so, with a free coffee included.

In Singapore where coffee is often not great and overpriced, that is very true. But it's not like there is a hell of a lot of other things going on there :)

You are. It costs the proprietor 10c. That's their 1000% mark-up.

If we're talking a Kopi-C, sure. But that's not costing you $5.60 then either. Realistic costs are probably more like $1-2 for an Espresso based drink like a Cappuccino, depending on how much milk is included.
