OK, so when you apply for more cards with other banks then they can see that you have already been given a card with someone else, that you have a good credit history (card payments on time), etc.?

I asked my banker why would this happen and he said because the bank would want him to show deposit culture (usually only 3 month required) and rejected him on that basis and then on his credit report all it shows is a rejecetd application so the other bank sees another reject him and dosent make any inquiries of their own. Its most likely he has a blak mark on his credit report here. You should be able to access your credit report and see but Im not sure about this (in OZ you can but you have to pay a small fee via non bank or ask your bank).
Nope , doesnt work like that that here. After my application was declined I went online and got my credit report, showed no defaults and no notes and no comments. So a declined credit card doesnt necessarily leave a black mark on your credit report, at least it didnt with mine. Maybe it depends on the reason for being declined....

Yes, it shows. Also the past cards and the way the CC accounts were terminated.

My advice , therefore to any one else in a similar position is either; wait a year before you apply for a credit card or, kick up an almighty fuss.
Just to share my experience, I applied for a credit card within 2 weeks of arriving to Singapore, and received it within 1 week after. Citibank.
